Summer is the perfect time for an active date night with your partner. Check out this link for some great active date night ideas that will get your hearts racing! (Source: Date Ideas For Couples Who Want To Get Active Together) Dave and I love to spend time together hiking and biking but sometimes an active date night for us is taking the dog for a walk. Doing something active together can bring you closer as a couple and it can make you feel healthier as well. It can also be so much fun exploring new activities together! So, get out there and get active together!
We are currently on a family vacation in Las Vegas! Every summer Dave’s company has a large convention in a major city in the USA and the kids and I tag along, it’s a great way for us to see some pretty awesome cities! We have been fortunate enough to visit Orlando, San Francisco, San Diego and Toronto (which is the only Canadian city that the conference has been held in).
Dave and I had an opportunity to visit Vegas together in September of last year. Dave surprised me with tickets to a Kings of Leon concert (my favorite band of all time) for my birthday. We had a really fun weekend and shot some video of our adventures in Vegas. Here is a link to our YouTube channel if you want to watch the video for yourselves https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3tVEepa_p0.
While we are on vacation we will continue to post new blogs each week day, in between touring the city! Now it’s off to Vegas baby!!
It seems that every day we are hearing about or reading about another celebrity couple who have decided to divorce. Last week Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert decided to call it quits on their 4 year union. Last month it was Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, who sadly have 3 children together. We wanted to find some celebrity couples who disprove the old adage that all Hollywood marriages end in divorce. Here is a great article from grandparents.com that highlights 15 of the longest celebrity marriages, some of 50 years or more! If these couples can make it while living in the spotlight of Hollywood it gives hope to all us regular folks!!!
Who says Hollywood can’t do marriage? These famous couples have been happily wed for over 25 years. Keep clicking to see who’s made it to 60 (and counting)!
By nature I, Nicole, am a bit of a worrier. My imagination takes control and, VOILA, I am worrying about everything that could possibly go wrong in any given situation. Just this week I spent several sleepless nights worrying about vacation accommodations that I had booked online. What if the owner wasn’t legit? What if the condo wasn’t the same as the one in the pictures? What if we aren’t able to obtain the keys? … You get the picture! The Bible tells us in Matthew 6:34 (NLT) “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” But what does that mean?
Tomorrow will have its challenges and trials, no matter how hard you try to prevent them. Leave tomorrow alone. When that day dawns, God will give you the grace and the strength you need for it. At the present time, you have the grace and the strength He has given you for today. Your calendar gives each day its own number. Live them in that order, just as God arranged them. Stay in one square at a time. Someone said, “Worrying doesn’t rob tomorrow of its sorrow, it robs today of its strength.” (Keith Krell, senior pastor of Fourth Memorial Church in Spokane, WA)
However, don’t confuse not worrying about tomorrow with not planning for tomorrow. Worrying about tomorrow is a waste of time but planning for tomorrow is time well spent. We should always be planning our future dreams and goals while continuously trusting in God. Careful planning can lessen our fears while worry demonstrates a lack of faith in God’s ability to handle our lives. So, what have I learned? After taking care of all of the details, on my end, regarding the renting of the vacation condo I now must give it up to God and trust that He will take care of the rest.
We love to camp at Fintry Provincial Park in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, Canada. Fintry has a rich history and much of that history is still evident in the site today. The site contains the only octagonal barn still standing in British Columbia. There is an impressive manor house with an amazing den that must be seen to be believed. Within this den you will find several animals including a giraffe. Okay, they aren’t alive but still, a giraffe is a giraffe! Fintry also has the only packing house still standing on the shores of the Okanagan Lake.
Besides the history Fintry is also rich in nature. Many creatures make their home in Fintry. Birds, bugs, marmots, deer and bats all can be found within the Provincial Park. The bats put on an impressive aeronautics show every evening, swerving and diving as they catch their fill of bugs. Fintry also boasts an abundance of interesting plants and flowers due to the mixture of desert, pasture and forest landscape.
There is no lack of activities to enjoy while staying at Fintry. There is an excellent hike to a waterfall. Approximately 500 stairs will take you to the top of the falls and the view is breathtaking (as is the climb!). There are many trails within the park that are perfect for either biking or walking and there is a village close by that is an enjoyable and leisurely bike ride away. Swimming and all manner of water activities can be enjoyed as Fintry has a large waterfront area. There is also a boat launch enabling boaters to gain access to all areas of Okanagan Lake if they so choose.
This was our second visit to Fintry and it won’t be our last. If you are ever in the Okanagan it is worth checking out.
Oh yeah, the bathrooms and showers are probably the cleanest of any campground we have stayed at! This is always a very important selling feature of any campground for our family!
So, what are some of your favorite places to camp? We need some new places to go!
